Beantown Adventures

The week after Thanksgiving is the traditional time for the Fall Conference of the Materials Research Society (MRS). It's always held in Boston. The whole family packed up and traveled to Boston.

On our first morning at the hotel, we found the hotel's breakfast buffet was way too expensive. So, we headed to Starbucks. Blue Suite Baby Girl wanted a blueberry muffin. It was the size of her head.

Blue Suit Little Guy looked forward to visitng only one place in Boston: the place where he was born. So, one afternoon, Daddy and BSLG hopped on the Green Line and went to Beth Israel Deaconess. The labor and delivery folks thought it was so adorable for him to visit the place he was born. BSLG also got to see the nursery where the newborns were kept.

My advisor at MIT received the Acta Gold Medal during the MRS meeting. A dinner was held in his honor and many of his former students, visiting scientists and colleagues from around the world came. I sat at a table with friends who were in the Suresh Group when I was a grad student.

Rachel and I have a picture of us next to a tree at Boston Common taken when we were first married. Rachel and the kids found the tree and had a little portrait session.
